A multigrid method was applied to the solution of the Navier-Stokes equation for two-dimensional laminar flow problems. The performance of the multigrid method, using two different (point and line) relaxation schemes is compared to those of single-grid schemes. The better multigrid method always converges much faster than the best single-grid method. The finer the grid, the more favorable is the comparison of the rate of convergence. The importance of the choice of the relaxation scheme for the multigrid method is illustrated.
