Marine Gas Turbines - Engine Health Monitoring, New Approaches

Advantages of adopting a policy of condition based maintenance for marine gas turbines rather than a rigid hours concept are outlined. Engine health monitoring developments and effects on overhaul facilities are explained. Visual inspection, low cycle fatigue counters, turbine life usage, power turbine entry temperature spread monitoring, aerothermal assessment, vibration monitoring, and debris are discussed.
