摘要

The fundamentals for the fatigue resistant design of journal bearings under unsteady loading were elaborated. Fatigue strength tests were performed to quantify the effects of different operational and production parameters. Metallographic and X-ray examinations, as well as the analysis of the topography of the bearing metal surfaces enabled an interpretation of the test results. The triaxial stress distribution in the bearing metal at limit loadings was numerically determined. A design procedure for journal bearings under unsteady loading was developed, enabling the transfer of uniaxially determined dynamic strength characteristics to the realistic case.
