The project that this paper is a part of investigates the impact of Operation Paperclip, the code name of the project aimed at bringing the German rocket scientists to America, on the German families and their neighbors in Huntsville. The project was based primarily on oral histories. This excerpt focuses on interviews with members of the African American community, and the reflections of African-Americans' attitudes towards the Germans in Huntsville.
