Consistency of Rule-Based Expert Systems

摘要

A theoretical framework in which the semantics and the consistency of a knowledge base can be studied is presented. The framework is based on first order many-sorted predicate logic and is sufficiently rich to capture an interesting class of rule based expert systems and deductive databases. Criteria to isolate cases in which the consistency test is feasible are given.
