摘要

Stress distribution near CFC specimen loading pads and loading/unloading characteristics from a point where audible cracking of the specimen first occurs were investigated. On neither of the two loading runs, run 1 to 42 kN and run 2 to catastrophic failure at 56 kN, were any audible noises detected, thus rendering impossible the secondary stated objectives. The stress distribution results obtained should assist in the understanding of the load distribution associated with GRP end pads bonded to CFC coupon specimens, and can be used to establish the difference in the transverse strains at the edge and in the middle of the specimen.
