摘要

A program on fracture toughness characterization of reactor pressure vessel steels is described. Different steels and different heats of the same steel are tested to obtain a database to be used to support surveillance programs. Data obtained on an SA508 C12 forging, two SA533B C11 plates, and a submerged arc weld in SA533B are presented. Static and dynamic fracture toughness of base metals, weld, and heat affected zone were measured in the temperature range minus 196 to plus 300 C. Compact and precracked Charpy V-notch specimens were used in static and dynamic tests respectively.
