Mathematical Morphology for Structures without Translation Symmetry

Euclidean mathematical morphology based on the use of translation-invariant transformations of the Boolean lattice of all subsets of the Euclidean space as used in image analysis is introduced. It is shown how the theory can be generalized to arbitrary complete atomic Boolean lattices with a commutative group structure on the set of atoms. Simple examples are given.
