Consistency and Robustness of Knowledge Graphs

A project for the construction and analysis of a knowledge graph that representsa scientific theory on the domain of medicine or social science is presented. The construction of a knowledge graph consists of procedures for the extraction of knowledge from several documents and of the procedures for the integration and structuring of the extracted knowledge. Complex relations that can be represented by a knowledge graph are used to create a hierarchy in the represented knowledge in order to inspect a knowledge graph at different levels of abstraction. The foundations of reasoning on knowledge graphs are based upon the properties of a path algebra structure. The project consistency and robustness of knowledge graphs is directed at the development of a consistency concept for knowledge graphs for the detection and handling of inconsistencies, and the development of measures for the robustness of the integrated knowledge structure. For the validation of the developed techniques, the progam KISS (Knowledge Integration and Structuring System) was developed. The developed methods and techniques were tested using different knowledge graphs in the domains of social dentistry and lung diseases.
