摘要

The preparation of multilayer samples (by sputtering and molecular beam epitaxy)and characterization (by X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometry, magnetooptical Kerr effect magnetometry, and ferromagnetic resonance) are discussed. The contributions to magnetic anisotropy important for thin films are discussed and studies on Co/Ni and Co/Ni/Co/Pt multilayers are reported. The physical mechanisms underlying magnetic interlayer coupling are considered together with recent developments in this field.
