During the four year term of the grant, research was pursued in four major areas: a feasibility study for a proposed Backscattering Ensemble Measurement particle sizing instrument (BEM); the effect of Gaussian laser beams on the calibration of the Forward Scattering Spectrometer Probe (FSSP); the effect of nonspherical water droplets on the calibration of the Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA); and general research in light scattering theory.
