It has been found that the properties of heat-resisting alloys are dependent to a large extent on the conditions of fabrication. Because the large size of certain gas-turbine rotors has introduced fabrication pro¬cedures for which information is not available, a research program was begun at the University of Michigan to ascertain the properties of the better alloys in the form of large forgings.nIt appears from the data that Timken alloy discs, which are hot-cold-worked after hot-forging and made from different heats by different companies, will have similar properties.
