This note gives details of a strain-gauge application to the measurement of normal force and moment on (small) models in high-speed tunnels, where any interference arising from supports must be avoided. The model is supported in the tunnel by a " sting " carrying the strain gauges, which is held firmly on the axis of the tunnel down¬stream of the model.nThe electrical circuit has been discussed at some length to show how the use of a vernier potentiometer enabled a very high sensitivity to be achieved with a minimum of circuit components.
