The thrust augmentation of a turbojet engine resulting from the evaporation of water prior to mechanical compression vas inves¬tigated over a range of flight Mach numbers, altitudes, ambient temperatures, and ambient relative humidities. The amount of cool¬ing obtained by evaporation of the water was determined by means of a specially prepared psychrometric chart having total pressure as a variable. Both the augmented and normal engine performance were then evaluated for the various operating conditions by means of a generalized analysis of turbojet-engine performance.
