Tests on Three Equilateral Triangular Plates in the Compressed Air Tunnel

The report gives CL, CD and Cm on three equilateral triangular plates with sides 26, 36 and 47-8 in. The object of the tests was to estimate the size of swept-back wings of that form, which can be tested in the Compressed Air Tunnel without the application of excessive tunnel corrections..nAfter applying the usual tunnel corrections and making small corrections due to dissymmetry in the models, it was found that CL on the three models agreed if the results on the 36 in. and 47 -8 in. models were multiplied by 1 -01 and 1 • 05 respectively.nFair agreement was obtained on C0 for the three models.nThe mean position of the centre of pressure is about 0-45 of the height of the triangle forward of the trailing edge.
