A calculation procedure is described by which the dimensions of the core of a gas-to-gas crossflow heat exchanger with prescribed beat-transfer surface can be determined rapidly. The procedure is based on a number of charts -that may be prepared for each surface with prescribed entrance conditions, pressure drops, and temperature changes. The Rey¬nolds numbers that determine the flow velocities on both sides of the heat exchanger as veil as the three basic dimensions of the heat-exchanger core are found by reading values from the charts and performing a few simple calculations.
