Report on the Accident to Bolkow-Klemm, G-ASAW in the sea near Shoreham, Sussex, on 5th January, 1965

(i) The aircraft had been properly maintained and was airworthy.n(ii) The pilot's licence was valid and he was in current flying practice.n(iii) Alcohol consumed by the pilot during the five hour period preceding take-off may have impaired his efficiency and judgment.n(iv) The accident probably occurred about twenty minutes before nautical twilight;hazy conditions existing at the time probably obscured the natural horizon.n(v) The aircraft struck the water at a speed greater than would have been normal for a controlled ditching.
