摘要

An extension is made of the simple model proposed by Mark for the interaction of the reflected shock with the boundary layer in a shock tube. It leads to the prediction of a flow of gas along the walls of the tube, originating at the bifurcated foot and directed towards the end wall. When this analysis is applied to the transmitted shock, the prediction is that cold driver gas will quickly arrive at the end of the tube, cooling the gas in the reservoir of the shock tunnel. This occurs for M1 > 3.5 for helium driving nitrogen. It is a faster movement of cold gas towards the end plate than that caused by the general movement of the contact surface.
