摘要

The principal question studied in our preliminary experiments was that of the incidence of the two typical forms of tool wear (flank and crater) on the cutting force components.nThis was done by employing sharpened tools with an artificial wear land. It was shown that the cutting force and the feed force increase with the wear land in a linear fashion;an almost right—angle cut was used and the radial force was virtually nil. In the case of crater wear, on the other hand, the opposite pattern was observed since crater—induced increases in frontal rake angle caused decreases in cutting force.
