摘要

During the first six months of this grant, the main effort was directed at upgrading our equipment and data handling system, in order to detect the subtle spectral differences that were anticipated from our earlier work. The last few months were spent gathering data in and interpreting the results.nThis data handling system has been used recently in other field studies with the SG-4 spectrometer. Over 700 rock and soil spectra collected in a one six-hour recording period and successfully reduced in the computer. Group mean and standard deviation spectra can be reduced within an hour or two of recording.
