A NEW METHOD FOR ELECTRICALLY AUGMENTING COMBUSTION FLAMES

A new method of increasing the temperature of a combustion flame is described which uses inductive coupling of electrical energy into the flame as opposed to the usual methods of inserting electrodes and passing a D.C. or ARC. discharge through the flame. The limitations of the previous methods are avoided and it is hoped that this new method will lead to a greater use of electricity in the field of chemical and physical processing of materials.
