摘要

The development of the HEOS-A2, TD-1 and ESRO-IV spacecraft is progressing well. In addition, during 1969 the Council of ESRO approved two further missions, namely COS-B, a spacecraft de¬voted to the measurement of spatial distribution and energy spectra of gamma rays from outer space, and a geostationary satellite (GEOS) to measure wave/particle interactions at geostationary altitudes in correla¬tion with similar measurements to be carried out by ground observation, rocket flight and low-orbit satellites. COS-B is scheduled for launch in 1974 and GEOS in 1975. The payload for COS-B, consisting of a spark chamber and an energy calorimeter, has been approved and will be built jointly by a consortium of European laboratories, thus enhancing the role ESRO plays as an international catalyst. The experiments for GEOS are in the process of being selected.
