High spectral resolution FTIR observations for the ARM program: Continued development, evaluation and analysis.

The proposed UW/UD team worked together very successfully in the previous ARM IDP and earlier in the development of the High-resolution Interferometer Sounder (HIS) aircraft instrument for NOAA and NASA. The UW is responsible for the Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometer (AERI) and for providing AERI-based calibration subsystems and operational software for the AERI-X, while the UD is responsible for the Solar Radiance Transmission Interferometer (SORT) and for developing the AERI-X interferometer. Both groups bring to the team years of experience with atmospheric instrument development and field work, in addition to spectroscopic data analysis and remote sensing. The accomplishments of this team under previous support as part of the ARM Instrument Development Program, the science objectives for the effort proposed here, and describes the proposed activities under the categories of instrument developments, spectroscopic analyses, and remote sensing are summarized in this report. Also, management considerations, including facilities, key personnel, schedule and cost estimates are included.
