The aim of this pre-study is to investigate the development of a model for metal burial in bottom sediments during early diagenesis. Different processes that influence the metal sorption and burial rate are discussed and parameters of importance are reviewed. The choice of metals is done according to the HELCOM convention, where the metals Hg, Cd, Cu, Zn, Ni, Cr, and As are chosen. 21 refs, 2 figs, 4 tabs
