In this project we have studied singularities as both fundamental mathematical objects in their own right determining, for example, integrable and nonintegrable properties of nonlinear differential equations; and the determining mechanism of crucial physical processes such as self-focusing singularities and current sheet formation. This approach defines broad based, interdisciplinary research program relevant to the DOE/AMS mission.
