Sustainable energy and social development

摘要

The International Network for Sustainable Energy (INforSE) is an international network of Non governmental Organizations (NGO's). The World Summit for Social Development, Copenhagen, March 1995, is an attempt to put the issues of Social Development at the top of governmental agendas. This would make the issue assume vital importance not only at national levels but also in the larger global sphere. The term Social Development, has many facets but there are three in particular, which are the focus of attention at the Summmit. These are: 1. Reduction and alleviation of poverty. 2. Job creation. 3. Building social Integration. Certain themes have been identified by the INforSE for the workshop. Thus, areas of 'commonality' between these different regions were identified, based on the perspectives of the different regions as also the cases. These themes are cross-sectoral in nature, cutting across a range of interests. Sustainable energy solutions thus created, aim at attacking not just one particular core issue, but also aim at being more encompassing in their scope. (EG)
