Wideband EMP test system

A wideband EMP tester consisting of a high voltage modulator, transmission line, high voltage peaking switch, and a TEM test cell has been developed that delivers repetitive high frequency EMP pulses to an RF-sealed double-test volume of about 1 ft.(sup 3). The pulse shape is rectangular, has a duration of 4 ns and a risetime of 120 ps. The system can be operated at pulse repetition rates up to 1500 Hz and electric field levels up to 125 kV/m. Both voltage and pulse rate are continuously adjustable over these ranges, and may be operated in any combination.
