This progress report contains three individual project reports. The first, hydrogenase project has as its major goal to develop the basic techniques and information required to apply the methodology of molecular biology to studies of the structure function aspects of hydrogenase. The second looks at efforts to understand the biochemical reactions of the biodegradation of cellulose. The third concerns the genetics and biochemistry of the Azotobacter vinelandII Hoxc DNA region.
