The document contains those aspects of the proceedings from a training course and a seminar organized by IAEA in 1992 which focus on molecular techniques used for the diagnosis of communicable diseases. It is divided in two parts: Part I contains 5 laboratory protocols for molecular techniques and Part II contains 9 of the 43 papers presented at the seminar which illustrates the application of molecular techniques.
