Radiation hardness tests of GaAs amplifiers for liquid argon calorimetry

The GaAs electronics (preamplifiers and summing/shapers) designed for the liquid argon calorimeter was tested using cesium source of gamma quanta and fast neutron beams at the Dubna pulsed reactor IBR-2. We have observed no degradation of the electronics till the total dose of 10 Mrad. But the neutron fluence of 2(center dot)10(sup 14) n/cm(sup 2) is critical for the GaAs electronics tested. In general, the designed electronics would be appropriate for the hadronic calorimetry of ATLAS. 6 refs., 8 figs. (Atomindex citation 27:006073)
