Use of Computer Simulations to Assist Casting Design.

摘要

To date, the majority of our computer simulation work to date has been focused on optimizing existing casting processes where the mold is already designed, the process parameters are established and castings has been made using the design. This project endeavors to create new casting designs from scratch that will achieve the desired microstructure and properties, have the correct shape and stability within tolerances, use current equipment and explore possibilities of factor space. A combined experimental/computational approach was used to design casting molds and determine the best process parameters needed to produce quality castings.
