Analytical methods for environmental sampling of chemical warfare agents and their degradation products

This first technical conference promoted the standardization of analytical procotols to reliably detect chemical warfare agents and their degradation products in soil, water, and other complex environmental media. This supports the various chemical weapons disposal and emergency preparedness programs, Chemical Weapons Convention treaty compliance, installation restoration and base closure decisions. The major topics addressed were: Implementation for treaty compliance; installation, restoration, and stockpile disposal decisions; existing analytical methods; practical applications of existing analytical techniques; immunoassay technologies; and environmental and biological fate of agents and their degradation products.
