The results of post-irradiation examination of the Li(sub 2)ZrO(sub 3) pebble-bed, irradiated in the fast reactor, FFTF, Richland, WA, as part of the BEATRIX-II Phase II program, to a burnup of 5.1% (sup 6)Li, are reported here. They include neutron radiography, X-ray diffraction, tritium-inventory measurements, and scanning electron microscopy. The pebble-bed remained intact. Sintering and some microcracking were observed. The formation of the ZrO(sub 2) phase was clearly seen, as were helium bubbles. Tritium inventory averaged 0.19 wppm, increasing from the centre (0.28 wppm) to the edge (0.28 wppm).
