摘要

The present report describes SO(sub 2) and aerosol distributions measured with the laser remote sensing system ARGOS in the area around Cubatao (Brazil). The investigations were made during the field campaign in November 1994 within the framework of the international research project 'BRA ENV 3 Serra do Mar'. Immission measurements in vertical and horizontal planes were carried out as well as a comparison of ARGOS lidar data with those of a local SO(sub 2) sensor. In addition profiles of the wind direction and velocity were determined with a Doppler sodar. Prior assumptions as to the sources and mechanisms of accumulation of SO(sub 2) in this area were essentially confirmed, and transport phenomena due to the interaction of land-sea breeze conditions with the local emission patterns were elucidated by the lidar measurements.
