A major goal in the study of heavy ion collisions is the investigation of the properties of dense and hot nuclear matter. Various activities have been started in order to enhance our understanding of matter under extreme conditions. Besides the investigation of the production of secondary particles like pions and kaons and besides the study of anisotropies in the momentum distribution like the transverse flow of nuclear matter in plane (bounce-off) and out of plane (squeeze-out) also the examination of isotropic components like the radial flow has recently achieved large interest. Our aim is to investigate the radial expansion of fragments in collisions of heavy nuclei at SIS energies. Hereby we will only regard the direction transverse to the beam. In the following the transverse velocity v(sub t) will denote the absolute value of the velocity component perpendicular to the beam and the radial velocity v(sub r) will denote the radial component of the velocity vector in cylindrical coordinates r, (phi), z.
