In 1991, the IAEA Committee for Contractual Scientific Services approved the Co-ordinated Research Programme on Operator Support Systems in Nuclear Power Plants in the framework of the Project 'Man-Machine Interface Studies'. The major goal of the co-ordinated research programs was to supply guidance and technology transfer in the development and implementation of computerized support systems. Creation of a database containing the most pertinent characteristics of the OSSs operating in NPPs was recommended. The database is assumed to be of use to several groups of organizations. It contains a large set of data on each specific OSS record. In this report, an attempt was made to analyze the available data from the point of view of different user groups in order to guide the use as directly as possible into a practical use of the database.
