摘要

The field portion of the SPECTral Radiance Experiment (SPECTRE) has been followed by a period of data analysis, longwave model testing under the auspices of the Intercomparison of Radiation Codes used in Climate Models (ICRCCM), and radiation model development (longwave-wavelengths > 4 micometers). Small portions of the SPECTRE data were distributed to the international ICRCCM community for model testing concurrently to the development of a CD-ROM and a World Wide Web site--http://metosrv2.umd.edu /(approximately)specr/ SPECTRE/SPECTREhome.html that contain the bulk of the data. The major scientific accomplishment of the project is the lowering of the uncertainty associated with the calculation and measurement of the clear-sky downward longwave flux at the surface by a factor of 4- from 20 to 5 W m(sup (minus)2) for a range of meteorological conditions representative of a mid-latitude autumn climate.
