Annual Conference for African-American Researchers in the Mathematical Sciences211 (CAARMS4) (4th). Preliminary Program

In June, The Center for Research on Parallel Computation (CRPC), an NSF-funded211u001eScience and Technology Center, hosted the 4th Annual Conference for African-211u001eAmerican Reserachers in the Mathematical Sciences (CAARMS4) at Rice University. 211u001eThe main goal of this conference was to highlight current work by African-211u001eAmerican researchers and graduate students in mathematics. This conference 211u001estrengthened the mathematical sciences by encouraging the increased participation 211u001eof African-American and underrepresented groups into the field, facilitating 211u001eworking relationships between them and helping to cultivate their careers. In 211u001eaddition to the talks there was a graduate student poster session and tutorials 211u001eon topics in mathematics and computer science. These talks, presentations, and 211u001ediscussions brought a broader perspective to the critical issues involving 211u001eminority participation in mathematics.
