Reverse Engineering Using Computed Tomography

Los Alamos developed a straightforward way to transform x-ray computed tomography211u001e(CT) data into an engineering model in a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) 211u001esoftware package. Engineers use such reverse engineering techniques to compare 211u001ethe component 'as-is' to the component 'as-designed.' Reverse Engineering is also 211u001euseful when the documentation for components is lost of the component has been 211u001eshaped by hand for design (as in automotive bodies) or to fit into a location.
