摘要

In most electronuclear reactions involving unpolarized electrons incident on211u001eunpolarized nucleons and nuclei more than one amplitude can contribute to a given 211u001eprocess. Often, the most interesting physics is represented by an amplitude that 211u001eis much smaller than the dominant contributing amplitude. Many times, the 211u001econtributions from two different amplitudes can, in principal, be isolated by 211u001emeasuring the reaction under complementary kinematical conditions. In the case of 211u001eelectronuclear reactions the transverse and longitudinal contributions can, again 211u001ein principal, be isolated using a Rosenbluth Separation. However, when either the 211u001etransverse or the longitudinal contribution is very much larger than the other, 211u001eit is usually impossible to obtain a statistically significant measurement of the 211u001esmaller contribution. Fortunately, a solution to this problem has been found in 211u001ethe use of polarization degrees of freedom.
