Over the years, RERF (Radiation Effects Research Foundation) has found itself in211u001ea difficult financial position attributable to the tight budget of the United 211u001eStates, the strong yen, and various problems related to the proposed change in US 211u001eoversight of the Foundation. However, we have great hope after last years Blue 211u001eRibbon Panel report highly evaluated RERF's research and called for the 211u001estrengthening of Important research projects. The governments of the United 211u001eStates and Japan have expressed their intentions of fully respecting the third-211u001eparty internatlonal scientific committees recommendations as RERF's budget is 211u001eallocated, and since the difficult budget condition is expected to continue for 211u001esome years, RERF will prioritize its activities accordingly.
