An experiment in a water tow tank was conducted to provide surface pressure data for the validation of a vortex-based parachute inflation code being developed at Sandia National Laboratories. A rigid hemispherical shape similar to a ribbon parachute was tested in a nonsteady flow field. This report deseribes the experiment in sufficient detail to enable its recreation in a computational model. The pressure data are included in the paper in electronic format and consist of the local time-varying differential pressures across the ribbons at 20 locations as well as the differential pressure distribution around the hemisphere during the steady- state portion of the trajectory. A detailed error analysis establishes the bounds of validity of the data.
