摘要

The current status of understanding of the equation of motion of an electron is211u001esummarized. Classically, a consistent, linearized theory exists for an electron 211u001eof finite extent, as long as the size of the electron is larger than the 211u001eclassical electron radius. Nonrelativistic quantum mechanics seems to offer a 211u001etine theory even in the point-particle limit.
