摘要

Many recent efforts to integrate transportation and deployment simulations,211u001ealthough beneficial, have lacked a feature vital for seamless integration: a 211u001ecommon data class representation. It is an objective of the Department of Defense 211u001e(DoD) to standardize all classes used in object-oriented deployment simulations 211u001eby developing a standard class attribute representation and behavior for all 211u001edeployment simulations that rely on an underlying class representation. The 211u001eExtensive Hierarchy and Object Representation for Transportation Simulations 211u001e(EXHORT) is a collection of three hierarchies that together will constitute a 211u001estandard and consistent class attribute representation and behavior that could be 211u001eused directly by a large set of deployment simulations. The first hierarchy is 211u001ethe Transportation Class Hierarchy (TCH), which describes a significant portion 211u001eof the defense transportation system; the other two deal with infrastructure and 211u001eresource classes. EXHORT will allow deployment simulations to use the same set of 211u001eunderlying class data, ensure transparent exchanges, reduce the effort needed to 211u001eintegrate simulations, and permit a detailed analysis of the defense 211u001etransportation system. This paper describes EXHORT's first hierarchy, the TCH, 211u001eand provides a rationale for why it is a helpful tool for modeling major portions 211u001eof the defense transportation system.
