LiNi(sub 0.8)Co(sub 0.2)O(sub 2) and LiNiO(sub 2) have been characterized in-situ211u001eXRD. LiNi(sub 0.8)Co(sub 0.2)O(sub 2) does not undergo a monoclinic phase 211u001etransformation but remains a hexagonal lattice throughout the entire charging 211u001ecycle. It is hypothesized that Co-doping may help stabilize the hexagonal 211u001estructure.
