Public Policy, Technology Adoption, and Aggregate Energy Efficiency

This research examines the factors that influence the adoption of new energy-211u001esaving technologies among U.S. manufacturing plants and explores their potential 211u001eimpact on aggregate energy efficiency. We conduct this analysis using two models: 211u001ea conventional diffusion model and a stand-alone model of new technology adoption 211u001ewe develop in this paper. The latter model allows us to compute effects on 211u001eaggregate efficiency based solely on adoption data.
