Micro-reactor tests indicate that our partial oxidation catalyst is fuel-flexible211u001eand can reform conventional (gasoline and diesel) and alternative (ethanol, 211u001emethanol, natural gas) fuels to hydrogen rich product gases with high hydrogen 211u001eselectivity. Alcohols are reformed at lower temperatures (< 600 C) while alkanes 211u001eand unsaturated hydrocarbons require slightly higher temperatures. Cyclic 211u001ehydrocarbons and aromatics have also been reformed at relatively low 211u001etemperatures, however, a different mechanism appears to be responsible for their 211u001ereforming. Complex fuels like gasoline and diesel, which are mixtures of a broad 211u001erange of hydrocarbons, require temperatures of > 700 C for maximum hydrogen 211u001eproduction.
