Operations at the Neutron Generator Facility include fabrication of war reserve211u001eneutron generators and prototype switch tubes. Neutron generators initiate 211u001enuclear fission in a nuclear weapon by providing a flux of neutrons at the proper 211u001etime. The mission of the Neutron Generator Facility is to support U.S. nuclear 211u001edeterrent capabilities by fabricating war reserves of the following: Neutron 211u001egenerators (external initiators for nuclear weapons); Neutron tubes; and 211u001ePrototype switch tubes (expanded scenario only).
