摘要

This is the final report of a three-year, Laboratory Directed Research and211u001eDevelopment (LDRD) project at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The primary 211u001eaim of this project is to obtain a basic scientific understanding of electrical 211u001etransport processes at interfaces that contain an organic electronic material. 211u001eBecause of their processing advantages and the tunability of their electronic 211u001eproperties, organic electronic materials are revolutionizing major technological 211u001eareas such as information display. We completed an investigation of the 211u001efundamental electronic excitation energies in the prototype conjugated polymer 211u001eMEH-PPV. We completed a combined theoretical/experimental study of the energy 211u001erelation between charged excitations in a conjugated polymer and the metal at a 211u001epolymer/metal interface. We developed a theoretical model that explains injection 211u001ecurrents at polymer/metal interfaces. We have made electrical measurements on 211u001edevices fabricated using the conjugated polymer MEH-PPV a nd a series of metals.
