The YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) based second generation (2G) superconducting wires have stimulated significant interest for power applications due to their high current carrying capacity at 77 K and high irreversibility field Hirr. The demand for industrial applications such as motors, transformers, and generators requires high critical current density Jc in the presence of high magnetic fields and high temperatures. One way to increase the Jc is to introduce artificial pinning centers into the HTS material.
